Junior Librians

Junior Librarians

Junior Librarians are pupils elected by their peers to help promote a love of reading and support the smooth running of the school library. Research shows that children who use the library regularly perform better in school and are more likely to become lifelong learners.

Their responsibilities include:

  • Encouraging Reading: Inspiring others to enjoy books and make the most of the library’s resources.
  • Supporting Library Use: Helping classmates find books, use the library system, and understand how to care for borrowed items.
  • Maintaining the Library: Keeping the library tidy, organised, and welcoming for all users.
  • Being Reading Role Models: Demonstrating a positive attitude towards reading and learning.

Being a Junior Librarian helps pupils develop responsibility, organisation, and a passion for literacy.
