Happy Healthy Minds--Counselling in School

School Counselling is a service that provides mental health support within the school. The Counsellor works closely with the boys and girls, parents and carers, and school staff to improve emotional well-being and help to remove those things impacting your child’s learning. The service includes parent consultations, one-to-one support for pupils, group work for pupils and parent/staff workshops. Counselling allows a child to express themselves in different ways through talking, creative activities and play to help develop coping tools they can use throughout their lives and help them focus on learning.

Paula is at our school every Wednesday. On occasion, she will be in at other times.

Children and families access counselling for a variety of different reasons some of which include anxiety, worries, big emotions, anger, bereavement and family issues.

If you or your child would like to access counselling you can let your child’s teacher know who will pass your details confidentially to Miss Collins. You may be asked to fill in a referral form. When a place becomes available the Counsellor will contact you to arrange a meeting.

Drop-In Sessions are available for

P5 to P7 Pupils.
