At Ballyhenry Primary School, homework is designed to reinforce classroom learning, build independence, and strengthen the home-school partnership. We aim to make homework manageable, meaningful, and tailored to each child’s needs.
Core Homework Focus:
- Daily reading, spellings, and tables are the foundation of all homework.
- Written Literacy and Numeracy tasks are set Monday–Wednesday.
- Thursday is reserved for revision.
Optional Written Homework: Families can opt in to additional written tasks at the start of the year to suit their child’s learning style and home routine. Would you like your child to receive optional written homework or do you need a reminder of their log in for TEAMS, Mangahigh or Accelerated Reader? Please use this link
Multisensory Spelling Support: All pupils receive a weekly spelling revision page using techniques like rainbow writing, pyramid spelling, and air writing to reinforce patterns.
Parental Support:
Parents are encouraged to:
- Sign homework diaries daily
- Listen to reading and discuss stories
- Praise effort and communicate with teachers if tasks are too challenging
